Within the COST Action CA18204 Dynamics of placemaking and digitization in Europe´s cities a one-week training school will be organised from May 8 to May 12 2023 in Ljubljana and Koper/Capodistria, Slovenia. It aims to offer the opportunity to present and exchange the experiences of the members of our COST Action in the field of methodologies for researching place-making processes, with a particular focus on contested historic sites.

The first day will take place in Ljubljana, where the keynote speeches and presentations of the local practitioners will address the issues of contemporary placemaking. Part of the programme will be the site visits in Ljubljana to see in practice and learn about the design and management of public spaces in the Slovenian capital city. Days 2-5 will be spent in Koper/Capodistria where a series of workshops will take place in cooperation between the COST action members and local players in the placemaking field. The programme will combine indoor lectures and discussions, practical exercises and hands-on activities, field visits and meetings with the locals.

COST will cover the travel expenses (up to 500€) and 140€ daily allowance of the participants. The one-week event foresees their presence for the whole duration of the event. During the Training School, the participants will be asked to establish their own relationship with the hosting place and join the exploration of it using the methods proposed by fellow colleagues from COST Action who agreed to moderate the workshops.
