HUCAMP! La Campa de todos: A green and innovative district for Oviedo (Spain) by HUCAMP Arquitectos: Juan Tur, Alexandra Delgado y Daniel Cortizo

The transfer of the Central University Hospital of Asturias generates a new opportunity space in a strategic location of the city Oviedo in the Cristo-Buenavista area. The aim of the project is the urban regeneration of the area, creating a new urban space of mixed uses, with a higher density and diversity of uses and reconnected with the urban fabric. A living and dynamic district, dedicated to innovation, that can be a reference on a national and international level. The HUCAMP! proposes the creation of a new centrality based on the construction of the city through public space. This materializes in a large green area, the Campa de Todos, able to organize the different uses and new buildings around it, forming a cohesive set. A green campus that encourages social and knowledge sharing. HUCAMP! seeks to become an exemplary design of sustainable urban development with zero balance of polluting emissions, through the centralization of energy production, the empowering of pedestrian and cycling mobility, the reuse of the material of the management of run-off waters, and the conversion and value of architectural, artistic and natural heritage.
