The Urban Design: Transformation and Mobilities Research Group at the Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, Aalborg University
My research revolves around place management and site specific qualities, problems and potentials. I have a particular focus on port cities and other highly mobility affected places. Such cities tend to struggle with local identity and placemaking when flows of goods and people are passing through more than actually being anchored within the everyday life of locals.
With an urban design perspective and access to Danish cases/actors/data of different kinds relevant to this action.
An in-depth case study of the port town Hirtshals, Denmark: at the same time a growing port and a shrinking city (see case study description elsewhere)
Several Danish port authorities and municipalities
Mixed methods, but predominantly qualitative such as field observations, interviews, questionnaires, document analysis and more
